June Saturday Class

We had a lovely sunny day in the studio this weekend and some lovely pieces were made. One student has now signed up for a 6 week evening class, it is great when students get the bug!

June weekend of finishing projects

Marianne, who has been to many classes at Cross Street came to this one day class with the aim to finish some projects. She managed to finish 3 pieces on saturday and went away very happy indeed. I have to say that these 3 projects were fairly well underway before she arrived on Saturday but a full day of soldering meant she got them all finished!
The 2 larger pendants are textured silver pendants with accents of gold and the 3rd one is 3 sunken dishes soldered into a pendant. All in all a very satisfying class for Marianne.

Students Work

I have a number of students who have been coming to Cross Street Workshops for a couple of years now. I am trying to get some really good photos of their work. So far I have used my light box and taken photos of Angular rings by Vicki Cadby, Pebble rivet necklace by Sue Milner and Scissor pendants by Hanna Ylitilo.

Sunday Birthday Treat

This sunday I had 3 generations of one family celebrating in the workshop. One birthday and 5 students all creating wonderful pieces of jewellery. Everyone went home with a ring and another piece. There were lots of pendants and some earrings and Gemma, who has been before, made the lovely flower pin you can see in the photo above.

Rainy November Weekend

We ignored the rain and spent a lovely day creating a huge amount of work this saturday. In the pictures above you can see the ring and circle earrings that Louise made. The wide ring and heart pendant that Alli created. Jo made the lovely double ring and bubble pendant and Liz made the birdy ring (tori is bird in Japanese I am told), Hilary was also in the studio creating but somehow managed to put her pieces away before the camera came out!

Issi and her Friday wedding ring workshop

Issi spent a Friday at Cross Street making a lovely wedding ring for her Fiance in white gold. Her soon to be sister in law had already made hers!

Issi then soldered, filed and had a great time polishing her gold ring.

A very happy Issi after a wonderful day in the workshop.

Wedding Rings in September

Donna & Thomas came to the studio to make their wedding rings. They chose to create a pair of textured wedding rings in white gold. They do a lot of horse riding and wanted rings that would be comfortable and stand up to energetic outings.

Texturing the gold with specialist hammers.

Soldering, polishing and the finished wedding rings

Next the rings were soldered, rounded, filed, polished and admired!

Iwona Finishes her Flower Earrings

These lovely earrings are silver and enamelled copper with 3 flowers hanging in a drop cluster

Stone Setting on Thursday

The first stone setting today is a ring Marianne has been working on for a while. She fabricated the piece from 3 seperate silver rings all made to exact proportions and soldered together. The turquoise stone is bezel set on bearer wire. Her first ever stone setting!

Claire's Skull Pendant

Silver skull with gold bezel settings for the turquoise stones.

Setting one of the 'eyes' by pushing the gold bezel wall over the stone.

July Saturday Class

Another lovely group of students in the workshop today. We made a selection of rings, earrings and pendants.
Below is Alisons silver wire with a stamped texture and the finished ring set.

Sarah made these lovely shield shape earrings and a textured silver ring.

Jo created this punched, drilled and granule decorated silver ring, and she has only ever been to 1 weekend before! She also managed to get these sparkling silver disc earrings cut and started a silver and copper heart pendant too.

Alison also got to squeeze a pair of earrings into the class too!
